Employment background checks are routinely done for hiring of new employees. Most employers will run a criminal background check and credit reports. What you don’t know WILL hurt you. If a employee will be handling money you will want to run a criminal background check to see if they have ever been convicted of theft or embezzlement. If they will be driving a company car you will be required to do a driving record on this individual to make sure his driving record is clear. I always get a signed release at time of application it is also a good idea to routinely run a updated criminal check yearly for any new offenses.
